Disclosed is a two-stage television signal distribution system useful for distribution where the first stage of the television distribution occurs over satellite. The distribution system has a distribution control centre for producing a television signal including system control information in the vertical blanking interval thereof. The television signal is carried over a first transmission means to at least one receive station. Each receive station is provided with storage means for storing incoming television signals under control of the system control information contained in the television signal. The system further provides a second transmission means having multiple television channel capacity for transmitting television signals from each receive station to a plurality of terminations (i.e. the audience) where the television signals carried on said second transmission means include television signals previously stored at the receiving station and may also include the television signal carried on said first transmission means.

L'invention porte sur un système de diffusion en deux étapes de signaux de télévision dans le cadre duquel la première étape de diffusion s'effectue par satellite. Le système comporte un centre de gestion de la diffusion pour la production d'un signal de télévision comportant des informations de gestion de système dans les intervalles de suppression de trame. Le signal est acheminé vers au moins une station de réception par un premier réseau de transmission. Chaque station de réception dispose de moyens de mémorisation des signaux de télévision reçus pilotés par le système de gestion des informations contenues dans le signal de télévision. Le système prévoit en outre un deuxième réseau de transmission, présentant une capacité multicanaux, pour la transmission des signaux de chaque station de réception vers une multiplicité de terminaisons (les téléspectateurs), les signaux acheminés par ce deuxième réseau étant les signaux précédemment mémorisés par la station de réception et éventuellement des signaux véhiculés sur le premier réseau.
