Abstract of the Disclosure Vincadioline, a novel indole-dihydroindole alkaloid, is obtained in small quantities from Vinca rosea. This com- pound is active as an antimitotic. The process for preparing vincadioline comprises preparing an extract of the leaves of Vinca rosea, extracting the dimeric alkaloid into a water- immiscible solvent, precipitating the dimeric alkaloid as the sulfate salt and separating the vincadioline by high pressure chromatography.
