-1- ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Vinyl chloride polymers with a large BET surface area and good plasticizer absorption are pre- pared by suspension polymerization of vinyl chloride in the presence of a primary suspension agent and as a secondary suspension agent, a polyvinyl alcohol having a degree of polymerization of at least 250 and the percent of solvolysis in the range of 40 to 70 moles % which is narrowly distributed. The vinyl chloride polymer so produced has a relatively narrow particle size distribution and a uniformity factor of at least 4.
