A hydrostatic vehicle drive system features a "virtual" braking system designed to emulate the braking response of a mechanically driven vehicle equipped with an automatic transmission and disk or drum brakes. A microprocessor controls output of the pumps used to power the hydraulic motors, and causes the power output to decrease independently and gradually according to a decelaration ramp, rather than instantaneously with changes in fuel pedal position.

L'invention se rapporte à un système de commande de véhicule hydrostatique caractérisé par un système de freinage "virtuel" destiné à émuler la réponse de freinage d'un véhicule à commande mécanique équipé d'une transmission automatique et de freins à disque ou à tambour. Un microprocesseur est chargé de commander la sortie des pompes servant à alimenter les moteurs hydrauliques et fait en sorte que la sortie d'alimentation diminue indépendamment et graduellement par rapport à une piste de décélération, plutôt que de diminuer l'alimentation de manière instantanée en raison des altérations de combustible selon la position du pied sur la pédale.
