ABSTRACT A buffer for a facisimile machine includes a computer control having memory means capable of receiving and storing facsimile messages and appropriate switching means to switch an incoming line to the memory means in the facsimile buffer when all associated facsimile machines are busy. It also provides means for causing the memory means to access the facsimile machines and transmit the message for printout when a facsimile machine is not busy.
