Virulence-associated antigens involved in adhesion have been identified in several organisms: Haemophilus influenzae biogroup aegyptius; Escherichia coli Kl; EHEC E.coli; Actinobacillus actinomycetemcomitans; Haemophilus somnus; Haemophilus ducreyi; EPEC E. coli; EA EC E. coli; uropathogenic E.coli; Shigella flexneri; Brucella melitensis; Brucella suis; Ralstonia solanacearum; Sinorhizobium meliloti; Bradorhizobium japonicum; and Burkholderia fungorum. Although the degree of sequence identity between the adhesins is low, they share a common arrangement of domains from N-terminus to C-terminus, namely: a leader peptide; a globular head; a coiled-coil region; and a transmembrane anchor region.
On a identifié dans plusieurs organismes des antigènes associés à la virulence et impliqués dans l'adhésion, lesdits organismes étant : Haemophilus influenzae, biogroupe aegyptius; Escherichia coli Kl; EHEC E.coli; Actinobacillus actinomycetemcomitans; Haemophilus somnus; Haemophilus ducreyi; EPEC E. coli; EAEC E. coli; E.coli uropathogène; Shigella flexneri; Brucella melitensis; Brucella suis; Ralstonia solanacearum; Sinorhizobium meliloti; Bradorhizobium japonicum; et Burkholderia fungorum. Le degré d'identité de séquence entre les adhésines est certes faible, mais elles ont en commun un agencement de domaine entre l'extrémité N-terminale et l'extrémité C-terminale, à savoir : un signal peptidique ; une tête globulaire ; une région bispiralée ; et une région d'ancrage transmembranaire.
