A method for controlling the rheology of aqueous systems, particularly for those intended for underground use, includes injecting an aqueous viscoelastic fluid containing a surfactant gelling agent into the system. The viscoelastic surfactant compositions of the invention comprises, as a gelling agent, at least one fatty aliphatic amidoamine oxide in a glycol solvent. The composition also maintains the levels of free fatty acid and free amine within critical parameters in order to achieve superior performance. The additives may be incorporated in the viscoelastic fluid to tailor its use in stimulation fluids, drilling muds, fracture fluids, and in applications such as permeability modification, gravel packing, cementing, and the like.

L'invention concerne un procédé de régulation de la rhéologie de systèmes aqueux, en particulier de systèmes aqueux destinés à une utilisation souterraine. Ledit procédé consiste à injecter un fluide viscoélastique aqueux contenant un agent gélifiant tensioactif dans le système. La composition de tensioactif viscoélastique selon l'invention comporte en tant qu'agent gélifiant au moins un oxyde d'amidoamine aliphatique gras dans un solvant glycol. Ladite composition permet de maintenir les niveaux d'acide gras libre et d'amine libre à des paramètres critiques afin d'atteindre des performances améliorées. Les additifs peuvent être intégrés dans le fluide viscoélastique afin d'adapter son utilisation à des fluides de stimulation, des boues excavées, des fluides de fracturation, et à des applications telles que la modification de perméabilité, le gravillonnage des crépines, la cimentation, et similaires.
