A B S T R A C T A marker for road surfaces is of the type having a mounting with an outwardly extending flange, the mounting being adapted to be fixed in the roadway with an aperture at the upper end of the mounting for holding a visible portion normally held in upraised position by spring means whilst allowing retraction under pressure of a vehicle tire. In the marker of the invention the visible portion is at least one reflector, enclosed in a translucent hermetically sealed plastics casing which is shaped to move vertically within an outher tubular mounting and the spring means is a solid spherical ball made of a synthetic rubber and placed within the tubular mounting. - 1 -
