A new use is provided for a particularly specified spray composition. Such spray composition includes at least one of a soluble vitamin, (e.g., Vitamin C) and a soluble mineral, and a non-toxic zinc compound as an essential active agent, as well as, optionally, a soluble flavouring agent, and a non-toxic solvent for the soluble vitamin or for the soluble mineral, or for the optional flavouring agent. Such new use is for introducing at least one of a soluble vitamin and a soluble mineral as well as the non-toxic zinc compound, into an animal through the oral cavity. Methods of preparing such spray compositions for such use are also provided.
