A voice activated switch includes a microphone and a processor which receives signals from the microphone. The processor is adapted to record a digital template of a voice command approximately three to five seconds in duration. The processor is also adapted to record subsequent voice input of like duration as a digital imprint of like resolution. The processor compares the digital template with each digital imprint to determine whether there is a match. The processor sends an activation signal only upon a match being determined.
