A voice coil actuator includes a magnetic flux conductive material core, a magnet and an electrical current conductive coil. The core has a first surface and a continuous channel disposed in the first surface. The channel has a pair of opposing walls. The magnet is disposed in intimate contact with a first one of the walls and space from a second one of the walls so that a gap remains between the magnet and the second one of the walls. The magnet has a first face of a first magnetic polarity facing the first one of the walls and a second face of a second, opposite magnetic polarity facing the gap. The magnet is further spaced from a bottom of the channel so that magnetic flux is substantially normal from the second face across the gap to the second one of the walls. The electrical current conductive coil is disposed moveably in the gap such that an electrical current in the coil develops a magnetic force on the coil in a direction substantially normal to the magnetic flux to displace the coil in response to the magnetic force.

Le canal compte deux parois opposées. L'aimant est placé en contact intime avec une première paroi et est éloignée de la deuxième paroi pour qu'un entrefer subsiste entre l'aimant et la deuxième paroi. L'aimant comporte une première face possédant une première polarité magnétique face à la première paroi et une deuxième face d'une deuxième polarité magnétique opposée face à l'entrefer. L'aimant est davantage éloigné du fond du canal pour que le flux magnétique soit essentiellement normal de la deuxième face à travers l'entrefer vers la deuxième paroi. La bobine conductrice est placée de manière mobile dans l'entrefer de sorte qu'un courant électrique dans la bobine développe une force magnétique sur la bobine dans une direction essentiellement normale par rapport au flux magnétique afin de déplacer la bobine en réaction à la force magnétique.
