A voice e-mail system is disclosed. The system comprises: means for sending and receiving an e-mail; means for converting the received e-mail into a voice file; means for forwarding the converted voice file to a user's communication system; means for determining whether, in the user's communication system, a human voice or a machine voice responds to the forwarding of the converted voice file; means for selecting an e-mail that matches criteria specified by the user and sending the e-mail to the user's communication system; means for converting a voice response message to a voice wave fife and send it back to the sender of the original e-mail; and means for initiating and sending a voice e-mail by calling the voice e-mail system; means for providing an attachment service to a voice e-mail.
