In one exemplary embodiment, voice quality of Voice over IP data in a wireless network is measured by first receiving at a detector (206) in the wireless network a set of wireless frames transmitted between a first wireless device (102) and a second wireless device (104) in the wireless network in a predetermined time period. The wireless frames in the set carry Voice over Internet Protocol data. A rating value indicative of voice quality is determined based on the loss rate and burst rate that are determined only using frames receive by the detection during monitoring.

Selon un exemple de mode de réalisation de l'invention, la qualité vocale de données de Voix sur IP dans un réseau sans fil est mesurée en recevant d'abord au niveau d'un détecteur dans le réseau sans fil un ensemble de trames sans fil transmises entre un premier dispositif sans fil et un second dispositif sans fil dans le réseau sans fil pendant un intervalle de temps prédéterminé. Les trames sans fil dans l'ensemble portent des données de Voix sur le protocole Internet.
