ABSTRACT The invention discloses mixing equipment including a plate having an orifice, and means for producing reciprocating relative motion at right angles to the plane of the plate between the plate and a fluid in which it is immersed to generate a ring vortex through the orifice, the orifice plate and orifice being positioned such that the ring vortex is projected into the fluid to be mixed, the orifice in the plate and the stroke of the plate are defined by the relationship 1.5 ? L/d ? 3.5, where L is the stroke of the plate and d is the diameter of the orifice.
