2095246 9208059 PCTABS00013 There is disclosed a vortex valve (1) comprising a housing defining a vortex chamber (3), the housing (2) having an inlet (6) through which liquid may enter the vortex chamber (3) in a manner to promote swirl within the vortex chamber (3) and an outlet (7) at one axial end (5) of the vortex chamber (3), characterized in that the outlet (7) represents at least 50 % of the area of the end (5) of the vortex chamber (3) in which it is situated and in that the vortex chamber (3) has a length which is at least one and a half times the diameter of the outlet (7).
