ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A vertical take-off and landing aircraft has one or more rear-mounted jet engines, and one or more jet deflectors shaped for efficiently re-directing the jet flows from the engines to pass over the upper surfaces of the wings of the aircraft when the deflectors are set to an operating position in which they intercept the jet flows, thereby producing dynamic lift as a result of a pressure difference between the upper and lower surfaces of the wings. - 1 -
