The instant invention is an improved cure system composition and a method for curing chlorinated elastomer compositions. The cure system composition includes a polymercapto crosslinking agent, an inorganic base, and a quaternary ammonium salt. The quaternary ammonium salt has a formula selected from the group consisting of wherein R1 is an alkyl or aryl group containing between 4 and 12 carbon atoms; wherein R2 and R3 are independently alkyl or aryl groups containing between 1 and 8 carbon atoms; wherein the total number of carbon atoms on R2 and R3 are between 3 and 9; wherein R4 and R5 are methyl groups, and R6 is an alkyl group containing between 2 and 8 carbon atoms; and wherein X is an anion. The method for curing a chlorinated elastomer, composition according to instant invention includes the following steps: (1) providing a chlorinated elastomer composition; (2) providing a cure system composition as described above; (3) contacting said chlorinated elastomer composition with said cure system composition; and (4) thereby curing said chlorinated elastomer composition.
La présente invention concerne une composition de système de durcissement améliorée et un procédé servant à faire durcir des compositions d'élastomères chlorés. La composition de système de durcissement comprend un agent réticulant de type polymercapto, une base inorganique et un sel d'ammonium quaternaire. Le sel d'ammonium quaternaire a une formule sélectionnée dans le groupe constitué de celles dans lesquelles R1 est un groupe alkyle ou aryle contenant entre 4 et 12 atomes de carbone ; R2 et R3 sont indépendamment des groupes alkyle ou aryle contenant entre 1 et 8 atomes de carbone ; le nombre total d'atomes de carbone présents sur R2 et R3 est compris entre 3 et 9 ; R4 et R5 sont des groupes méthyle et R6 est un groupe alkyle contenant entre 2 et 8 atomes de carbone ; et X est un anion. Le procédé servant à faire durcir une composition d'élastomère chloré selon la présente invention comprend les étapes suivantes consistant à : (1) produire une composition d'élastomère chloré ; (2) produire une composition de système de durcissement telle que décrite ci-dessus ; (3) mettre en contact ladite composition d'élastomère chloré avec ladite composition de système de durcissement ; et (4) faire durcir de cette manière ladite composition d'élastomère chloré.
