A wait staff signaling apparatus and method used to summon wait staff to a restaurant table includes a housing having a plurality of signaling indicators wherein the indicators illuminate by means of a light source driven by a battery and function module when activated by a patron at the table by pressing or touching the respective switch. The indicators are color coded with the color codes corresponding to the type of service required by the patron. The wait staff is thereby facilitated to be alerted at a distance that service is required by the patron without requiring the wait staff to visit the table. The type of service required by the patron is also communicated to the wait staff by means of the color coding. The function module provides regulation of illumination intensity and power draw as well as optional features including battery management and flashing of the light source.
L'invention concerne un appareil et un procédé de signalisation pour personnel de salle, servant à appeler un membre d'un personnel de salle à une table de restaurant. L'appareil selon l'invention comprend un logement comportant une pluralité d'indicateurs de signalisation, ces indicateurs étant illuminés au moyen d'une source lumineuse qui est alimentée par une batterie et qui est reliée électriquement à un module fonctionnel pouvant être activé par un patron à la table, par pression sur le commutateur correspondant ou contact avec le commutateur correspondant. Les indicateurs sont codés chromatiquement, les codes chromatiques correspondant au type de service requis par le patron. Ainsi, le personnel de salle peut être prévenu plus facilement, à une certaine distance, qu'un service est requis par le patron, sans devoir se rendre à la table. Le type de service requis par le patron est également communiqué au personnel de salle au moyen d'un codage chromatique. Le module fonctionnel permet de réguler l'intensité de l'illumination et la puissance consommée, ainsi que des caractéristiques optionnelles, telles que la gestion de la batterie, et l'émission de la source lumineuse.
