ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A retainer for securing cladding elements of wood, plastic or the like to a support structure or to an adjacent cladding element has a first connection zone for securement to the rear side of one of the cladding elements and a second connection zone for retention to the support structure or an adjacent cladding element. At the first connection zone at least one engagement projection, for insertion into a rear groove of the cladding element, and at least one press-in pro- jection, for pressing into the rear side of the cladding element, are provided. A cladding structure and a cladding moulding employing the retainer are also disclosed.
