ABSTRACT In communications between a warehouse shipping and receiving office, a dispatching office, and vehicles loading or unloading at a warehouse or like distribution centre, it is common to use a radio system to transmit voiced commands and responses. In this invention, all voice and radio noise is removed from such communications; the communications instead take place via radio-linked remote terminal display screens and command keys. Messages can thereby be received instantaneously and replied to at any time; the need for a series of temporaneously matched voiced instructions and acknowledgements is obviated. Another advantage of this invention is that the greater efficiency of communication will allow more detailed instructions and information about the loads to be transmitted than would otherwise be possible in a typical warehouse and distribution system. These features are accomplished by a central computer maintaining a series of virtual pages in its memory corresponding to the plurality of remote terminals. Several accessory Features, such as automatic transmission of identity, requirements and position of vehicles outside and inside the warehouse and of pallet loads within the warehouse can also be incorporated into the system.
