Washing machine having a rotatable inclined drum which contains the water for washing items together with the items to be washed. Outlet holes (5) are provided on the back end (7) of the drum so that at least one of the holes (5) is below the front opening of the drum when the drum is at any angular position. Due to the inclination of the drum, water in the drum will flow to the back of the drum under gravity, and will be discharged through the outlet holes (5). Collectors (18) may additionally be provided to lift the water to the holes (5) where these are not provided at the side of the rear end (7) of the drum.
