ABSTRACT In a washing machine an electronic control circuit which includes a logic circuit providing a number of machine programmes, each programme being selected by operation of one of a plurality of momentary switches, and in which first reset means is provided to cancel the selected programme when it has been completed, and second reset means is provided to cancel the selected programme upon failure of the electrical supply to the logic circuit, a memory means being provided to prevent this latter cancellation for short term interruptions of mains electrical supply of the order of 8 seconds.
