A method of washing cellulosic pulp to remove dissolved solids as well as dirt, inorganic fillers and fiber debris from the pulp. A thin mat of cellulosic pulp having a weight of 3 to 100 pounds of dry fiber per 1000 sq.ft. is applied to the upper surface of a porous endless belt or fabric (2). The belt containing the pulp mat is moved in a generally horizontal path and wash water is directed against the exposed upper surface of the mat through a series of showers. Water removal devices, table rolls (7, 11, 15, 19 and 23), are located beneath the belt and downstream in the direction of travel of the web from each shower to remove the wash water from the mat. The washed pulp is removed from the belt and the wash water removed from the mat can be used in the papermaking process.

Procédé de lavage de pâtes cellulosiques afin d'en éliminer des solides dissous ainsi que des impuretés, des charges inorganiques et des débris de fibres. On applique un matelas mince de pâtes cellulosiques, d'un poids compris entre 3 et 100 livres de fibres sèches pour 1000 pieds carrés, sur la surface supérieure d'une bande ou d'un tissu (2) poreux sans fin.
