A system (10) for treating a patient (14) with a wound comprises a bandage (16), a receptacle (18), and a vacuum source (21). The bandage (16) comprises a cover (22) to seal about the wound and to define a space above the wound in which a vacuum is to be formed. The bandage (16) further comprises a port (23) providing communication with the space. The receptacle (18) is connected to the port (23) to receive exudate from the wound and is provided to be placed below )the wound. The vacuum source (21) is spaced apart from the receptacle (18), is connected to the receptacle (18), and is effective to provide a vacuum in the receptacle (18) and in the space.

Cette invention a trait à un système (10) permettant de soigner un patient (14), dont une lésion est pourvue d'un bandage (16), lequel système est constitué d'un récipient (18) ainsi que d'une source à vide (21). Le bandage (16) est recouvert d'une protection (22) fermant hermétiquement la lésion et délimitant un espace ménagé au-dessus de celle-ci dans lequel se forme un état dépressionnaire. Ce bandage (16) est également pourvu d'un orifice (23) en communication avec l'espace susmentionné. Le récipient (18), qui est relié à l'orifice (23), afin de recevoir l'exsudat en provenance de la lésion, se trouve placé en dessous de la lésion. La source à vide (21), séparée du récipient, est raccordée à celui-ci et ce, afin de créer, de manière efficace, une dépression dans l'espace ainsi que dans le récipient (18).
