The invention provides a method for the production of a stable monolith, the method comprising the encapsulation of a waste material in the monolith by means of chemical bond formation within the monolith, and a method for the disposal and storage of waste materials, which comprises the production of a stable monolith by such method. Waste materials which are particularly suited to treatment according to the invention include various geopolymer precursors, most particularly ion exchange materials such as aluminosilicate materials, and the invention is particularly suited to the disposal and long term storage of radioactive waste materials.
Cette invention se rapporte à un procédé pour la production d~un monolithe stable, le procédé comprenant l~encapsulation de déchets dans le monolithe, au moyen de la formation d~une liaison chimique à l~intérieur du monolithe, et un procédé pour placer et stocker les déchets, comprenant la production d~un monolithe stable par ledit procédé. Les déchets qui conviennent particulièrement au traitement selon l~invention, incluent de nombreux précurseurs géopolymères, plus particulièrement des matières échangeuses d~ions telles que les matériaux à base d~aluminosilicate, et l~invention est particulièrement adaptée au placement et au stockage à long terme de déchets radioactifs.
