ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Apparatus for processing waste material in which an air column effects separation of the heavy material after first stage shredding and the remainder of the material is subjected to second stage shredding with a system for controlling the second stage so it will operate without pluging and reducing the material to a condition in which a cyclone separator yields a product suitable for a fuel while the air in the apparatus is cleaned before being expelled to atmosphere.
