This invention relates to a process and compositions for treating oil and solids contaminated waste water. More particularly, this invention pertains to a method and combination of chemicals which can be used to separate contaminants and impurities from waste water, especially bilge water. A composition for removing liquid and solid impurities from salt water contaminated with oil and solids comprising: (a) fresh water; (b) an anionic polymer; and (c) alum.
