Apparatus for burning cut trees, stumps, brush and other waste wood on site includes a burn bin having an inner wall, an outer wall and an interior combustion region. To enhance combustion and limit the temperature of the outer wall, a flow of input air from a source of forced air is received and divided into a flow of combustion air which is directed to the combustion region, and a flow of cooling air which is directed to an air plenum between the inner and outer wall. To better accommodate thermal expansion and facilitate repair and maintenance, the inner wall may be slidably guided and loosely supported within the bin. Further, the inner wall may be segmented or formed from a plurality of sheet metal plates, each slidably guided and loosely supported within the bin. That part of the air flow system which extends away from the bin may have a knock- down construction to facilitate assembly, disassembly and transport, and the apparatus may include a skid adapted to carry the bin during use at work sites and during transport between work sites.
