ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention is directed to a method and apparatus for treating wastepaper, wherein a selective flotation of suspension in a selective flotation system is carried out in multiple calls. Flotation froth is fed to hydrocyclone which produces two fractions, with a core fraction including lightweight particles and gas being drawn from the core and discarded, preferably at the upper end, and with a heavy fraction recycled to the selective flotation system.
