A way of controlling the flow of sewage to a se- wage treatment facility (100) distributes accumulator tanks (10) and sewage lines (103) so as to optimize the efficiency of the sewage treatment facility (100) by enabling it to operate at a more or less continual rate. One or more accumulator tanks (10) lies along each sewer line (103) and preferably at or near sites of ori- gin (105) of sewage. Each accumulator tank (10) stores wastewater until a time when it is expedient to pump it out of the tank to a sewage treatment facility (100). The flow of wastewater through a sewer system car be maintained at a more constant rate or regulat- ed in any way as desired.
