The present invention is a dual-stage, gravity continuously-backwashed filtering system for filtering contaminants from water. This filtering system has a first sand-filter unit (10a) that is loaded with water influent. The filtering system has injection points for coagulation chemicals and disinfection chemicals. The first sand-filter unit (10a) is connected in series to a second sand-filter unit (10b) of similar design. The first sand- filter unit (10a) is made up of large-grained sand (23), the second sand- filter unit (10b) fine grained sand (28). The second sand-filter (10b) unit receives its influent from the effluent weir (24) of the first sand-filter unit (10a). The reject water from the second filter unit (10b) is re- introduced into the influent that is fed to the first unit (10a). The reject matter from the first filter unit is passed to waste.

La présente invention porte sur un système de filtre de lavage continu à contre-courant, par gravité, à double étage, permettant de filtrer les contaminants de l'eau. Ce système de filtrage comporte un premier filtre composé de sable (10a) et chargé d'un influent. Le système de filtrage comporte des points d'injection pour la coagulation et la désinfection aux produits chimiques. Le filtre composé de sable (10a) est raccordé en série à un second filtre composé de sable (10b) de configuration similaire. Le premier filtre (10a) est constitué de sable à gros grains (23) et le second (10b) de sable à grains fins (28). L'influent du second filtre (10b) provient du déversoir (24) du premier filtre (10a). L'eau évacuée du second filtre (10b) est réintroduite dans l'influent qui est acheminé dans le premier filtre (10a). Les matières rejetées du premier filtre sont acheminées vers un point résiduaire.
