Abstract of the Disclosure In the anaerobic treatment of wastewaters from forest industries, toxic complexing agents in the wastewaters adversely affect the bacteria which bring about anaerobic decomposition to methane and carbon dioxide. This problem is now substantially solved by the addition of a metal selected from the group of iron, calcium, magnesium and aluminium.
