A B S T R A C T A water-absorbent resin of polyacrylic acid series characterized in that the resin has the crosslinked surface formed by reacting a powdery water- absorbent resin of polyacrylic acid series with an aluminum compound which can react with the powdery resin in the presence of polyhydric alcohol and water.
