A coating composition which may be water based and which is adapted for metallic substrates is disclosed, having: (1) binder resin comprising acrylic polymer having carboxy functionality, and (2) a curing agent comprising hydroxyalkylamide, wherein the ratio of hydroxy groups in the hydroxyalkylamide to carboxy groups in the binder resin is less than 0.5:1, preferably less than 0.4 to 1, and most preferably less than 0.35:1. The composition has been found to yield films exhibiting good resistance to water at high temperatures, thereby rendering them particularly suitable for use on metal food and beverage containers that are subjected to sterilization or pasteurization processes.
Composition d'enrobage éventuellement à base d'eau et adaptée aux substrats métalliques. Elle possède: (1) une résine liante comportant un polymère acrylique à fonctionnalité carboxy; et (2) un durcissant comportant de l'hydroxyalkylamide; le rapport entre les groupes hydroxy dans l'hydroxyalkylamide et les groupes carboxy dans la résine liante étant inférieur à 0,5:1, de préférence inférieur à 0,4:1, et notamment inférieur à 0,35:1. On a mis en évidence que la composition permet d'obtenir des films présentant une bonne résistance à l'eau aux températures élevées, ce qui les rend tout particulièrement utilisables sur les récipients métalliques pour produits alimentaires et boissons que l'on soumet à des processus de stérilisation ou de pasteurisation.
