The invention provides an aqueous intercoating composition which enables the formation of multilayer coating films excellent in chipping resistance, water resistance, compatibility of intercoat with top and under coats, and appearance of finished surfaces; and a method for forming multilayer coating films with the same. The aqueous intercoating composition comprises both a copolymer resin emulsion and a curing agent, the copolymer resin emulsion being one prepared by emulsion-polymerizing (a) a monomer component containing at least one monomer selected from among alkyl (meth)acrylates and, if necessary, at least one monomer selected from the group consisting of styrenic monomers, (meth)acrylo- nitrile, and (meth)acrylamide, (b) a polymerizable unsaturated monomer having an acid group, (c) a polymerizable unsaturated monomer having a hydroxyl group, and (d) a crosslinking monomer, and the resin having a glass transition temperature of -50 to 20~C , an acid value of 2 to 60mgKOH/g, and a hydroxyl value of 10 to 120mgKOH/g.
L'invention concerne une composition de revêtement intermédiaire aqueuse qui permet la formation de films de revêtement multicouche à excellente résistance à l'écaillage et à l'eau, compatibles avec des revêtements supérieur et inférieur, et donnant l'apparence d'une surface finie. L'invention concerne également un procédé de formation de films de revêtement multicouche avec cette composition. La composition renferme une émulsion de résine copolymère et un agent de traitement. L'émulsion est préparée par polymérisation en émulsion (a) de composante monomère contenant au moins un monomère qui peut être un (méth)acrylate d'alkyle et, le cas échéant, au moins un monomère qui peut être un monomère styrénique, un(méth)acrylonitrile, et un (méth)acrylamide, (b) un monomère polymérisable insaturé à groupe acide, (c) un monomère insaturé polymérisable à groupe hydroxyle, et (d) un monomère de réticulation. La résine a une température de transition vitreuse comprise entre 50 et 20· C, une valeur acide de 2 à 60 mgKOH/g, et une valeur hydroxyle comprise entre 10 et 120 mgKOH/g.
