To obtain water-based paint compositions with which there is broad scope for design of the base resin, and which can be made low-solvent, and which are also easy to apply and have outstanding storage stability, and can also form paint film of outstanding water--resistance, durability and smoothness. Water-based paint composition which contains a water-dispersible acrylic graft copolymer (A) of acid value 10-30 mg and hydroxyl value 50-150, which is a graft copolymer in which an acrylic copolymer of acid value 35-120 mg KOH/g and hydroxyl value 50-150 mg KOH/g, and an acrylic copolymer of acid value <=15 and hydroxyl value 50-150 are graft polymerized via chemical bonds, and internally non-crosslinked acrylic fine particles (B) of acid value 15-200 and hydroxyl value 15-200 which are a copolymer made by emulsion polymerizing .alpha.,.beta.-ethylenic unsaturated monomer, with the proportions of the total resin solids in the paint being accounted for by each being 10-90 wt.% for component (A) and 10-90 wt.% for component (B).
L'invention se rapporte à l'obtention de compositions de peinture à l'eau qui offrent une grande latitude de conception de la résine de base, qui peuvent être fabriquées avec une faible teneur en solvant, qui sont faciles à appliquer, présentent une stabilité exceptionnelle en stockage, et enfin forment une couche de peinture d'une résistance à l'eau, d'une durabilité et d'une régularité exceptionnelles. Cette composition de peinture à l'eau contient un copolymère acrylique greffé dispersible dans l'eau (A), à indice d'acidité compris entre 10 et 30 mg, et à indice hydroxyle compris entre 50 et 150 mg, qui est un copolymère greffé dans lequel un copolymère acrylique à indice d'acidité de 35 à 120 mg KOH/g et à indice hydroxyle de 50 à 150 mg KOH/g et un copolymère acrylique à indice d'acidité </= 15 et à indice hydroxyle compris entre 50 et 150 subissent une polymérisation avec greffage au moyen de liaisons chimiques; et des particules fines acryliques non réticulées de manière interne (B), à indice d'acidité de 15 à 200 et à indice hydroxyle de 15 à 200, qui sont un copolymère obtenu par polymérisation en émulsion d'un monomère insaturé alpha , beta -éthylénique. Les proportions des constituants, par rapport aux matières sèches résineuses totales dans la peinture, sont telles que le constituant (A) représente 10 à 90 % en poids et le constituant (B) 10 à 90 % en poids.
