La présente invention concerne un procédé utilisé dans un puits pour contrôler la filtration d'un fluide de forage, de conditionnement ou d'intervention mis en place dans un puits. Le procédé comporte l'adjonction d'une quantité déterminée d'au moins un dérivé de gomme guar modifiée hydrophobiquement. Dans une variante, le dérivé de gomme guar est de la guar hydroxy propylée modifiée hydrophobiquement (HMPG) La présente invention concerne un fluide de forage, de conditionnement ou d'intervention comportant au moins un dérivé de gomme guar modifiée hydrophobiquement et notamment des produits viscosifiants tels des polymères ou de l'argile réactive.
