Abstract "In a sink for the washing of tie-stall dairy farm milk pipeline systems, it is known to have a rounded bottom in which the milking machines are placed prior to the washing procedure. During the washing procedure, this sink acts as a reservoir for the cleaning solution which is drawn up through the bottom of the milking machine inflations, circulated through the pipeline system and returned to the sink. In this invention, there is a trough at the bottom of the sink which is slightly wider the width of two milking machine inflations. In this way, the bottoms of the inflations are held at the bottom of the sink and less water is required to be initially put in the sink for the bottoms of the inflations to remain submerged throughout the washing procedure. In addition, the sides of the sink slope into the trough in such a way as to rapidly reduce the volume of water in the sink as the elevation of this water decreases."
