- 1 - Abstract Plasma arc apparatus of the water cooled type has a system for circulating cooling water through a passage to cool the plasma arc torch. A device is provided for introducing pressurized gas into the circulation passage in order to forcibly drain any cooling water remaining in such passage when the power to the apparatus is switched off.
