A cartridge for a water purification jug is provided. The jug which has a pouring spout and a funnel with a funnel tube pointing downwardly into the jug. The cartridge has releasable sealing means for preventing water from passing between the cartridge and the funnel tube. The cartridge comprises a container and a cover. The container has an outer shell with a side wall and a bottom, and an inner shell with a side wall and a bottom. The container and jug having means to align the container properly in relation to the spout. The outer shell side wall has a plurality of small openings, at least on a portion of the container which is adjacent to the first imaginary line. The inner and outer shells form at least one passageway between the inner and outer shells. The inner shell has a plurality of small openings in or adjacent to a bottom of the inner shell such that water may flow from an interior of the inner shell to the passageway only through the small openings in the inner shell. The cartridge having means for retaining water and any small particles of purification media in the bottom of the cartridge. The means may either be a) a partial dome extending upwardly from the bottom of the inner shell, wherein the partial dome has a cavity which faces away from the spout, and wherein the small openings in the outer shell side wall are further from the bottom of the cartridge than the small openings in the inner shell, or b) at least one weir and a siphon break in the passageway between the inner shell and the outer shell. The siphon break is between the weir and the small openings in the outer shell, and the weir extends upwardly from the bottom of the cartridge, small openings in the inner shell are adjacent a position distal from the spout and the small openings in the outer shell are in or adjacent to the bottom of the container.
Cette invention concerne une cartouche pour pichet épurateur d'eau. Le pichet comporte un bec verseur et un entonnoir dont le tube pointe vers le fond du pichet. La cartouche comporte une fermeture étanche amovible destinée à empêcher l'eau de passer entre la cartouche et le tube de l'entonnoir. La cartouche se compose d'un corps et d'un couvercle, le corps comportant une coquille extérieure et une coquille intérieure, chacune ayant son propre fond. Le corps de la cartouche et le pichet comportent des moyens servant à aligner la cartouche par rapport au bec verseur. La coquille extérieure comporte dans sa paroi une série de petites ouvertures, dans au moins une région adjacente à une première ligne imaginaire. Les deux coquilles délimitent entre elles un passage annulaire, la coquille intérieure ayant une série de petites ouvertures dans le fond ou à proximité de celui-ci pour permettre à l'eau de s'en écouler vers le passage annulaire par la seule voie desdites ouvertures. La cartouche comporte un moyen pour retenir l'eau et des particules de matériau purificateur dans le fond. Il peut s'agir a) d'un dôme partiel se prolongeant vers le haut à partir du fond de la coquille intérieure, ledit dôme comportant une cavité orientée dans la direction opposée à celle du bec verseur et agissant de concert avec les ouvertures de la coquille extérieure situées plus loin du fond de la cartouche que les petites ouvertures de la coquille intérieure ou b) de la combinaison d'au moins un déversoir et d'un antisiphon ménagés dans le passage annulaire entre les deux coquilles. L'antisiphon se trouve entre le déversoir et les petites ouvertures de la coquille extérieure tandis que le déversoir reposant sur le fond de la cartouche se prolonge vers le haut. Les petites ouvertures de la coquille intérieure se trouvent dans une zone à l'opposé du bec verseur tandis que celles de la coquille extérieure se trouvent dans le fond de la cartouche.
