Disclosed are pliant modeling compositions that cure upon immersion in water, but that do not cure in the presence of ambient humidity The compositions comprise an organic binder and a hydrating species bound within the organic binder. Preferably, the organic binder is petrolatum, and the hydrating species comprises a mixture of plaster and cement. In accordance with the preferred embodiments of the present invention, the modeling compositions further include a co-solvent, a surfactant, a filler, a clay, a UV stabilizer, a colorant, a workability enhancer, and optionally a bittering agent and a preservative. The compositions are initially pliant, and thus suitable for sculpting. After the compositions have been sculpted, for example, into a sculpture, the compositions may be cured by immersion in water to form a solid, rigid model. The compositions are resistant to cracking upon curing.

Cette invention concerne des compositions de modelage malléables qui durcissent sur immersion dans l'eau mais non en présence d'humidité ambiante.
