Description

A water heater and a method of operating the same is provided. The water heater system (100) is comprised of two primary subsystems; a water heating subsystem (101) and an electrolytic heating subsystem (103). The electrolytic heating subsystem (103) is a pulsed electrolysis system that, during operation, heats the medium (107) contained within the electrolysis tank (105). The medium is pumped out of the electrolysis tank, through a conduit (109) to a heat exchanger within (113), or external to (201), the water storage tank (111) of the water heating subsystem (101), and then back into the electrolysis tank (105), thereby heating water contained within the water storage tank.
