WATER-INSOLUBLE PHENOL-FORMALDEHYDE-POLYAMINES, METHOD FOR MAKING THEM, CURING OF POLYEPOXIDES, AND THE RESULTING PRODUCT Abstract of the Disclosure A water-insoluble curing agent for epoxy resins, made by mixing a major amount by weight of a water- insoluble propylene diamine chosen from the group consisting of the C8 to C20 fatty propylene diamines and the C12 to C15 ether propylene diamines with a minor amount by weight of a water-soluble polyamine suitable for rapid cure of epoxy resins, mixing the resulting mixture with a water-insoluble substituted phenol to give a water-insoluble reaction product, and then reacting said reaction product with formaldehyde. A novel cured epoxy resin is produced by reacting the agent with an uncured epoxy resin, and the reaction can be done in a wet environment or even under water.
