WATER PICK-UP DEVICE FOR HUMIDIFIER ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A water pick-up device of the rotating drum type has a longitudinal slit in the sidewalls of the drum. The free ends of a strip of porous material, such as open pore polyurethane, are inserted into this slit and the strip is held in position on the sidewalls of the drum by virtue of the fact that the slit is narrower than twice the thickness of the strip. Thus the free ends of the strip are slightly compressed against and frictionally engage each other in the slit.
