A DOUBLE-ACTING PISTON PUMP ABSTRACT In a piston pump or engine, the manner of translating rotary action of the drive to the reciprocating action of the piston in a cylinder can have a numerable variations. In the present invention a pair of identical cams and cam-followers actuate a double - acting or two - headed piston in a configuration wherein the two cam followers are integrated within the body of the piston and the cams are integrated within the cylinder block. The arrangement has considerable intrinsic strength and eliminates the need for the wrists, arms, and elbows which usually form part of mechanisms designed to transfer rotary action into linear action and vice-versa.
