A water resistant and vapour phase corrosion inhibitor composite material (1) for wrapping around metallic items for protection and to reduce corrosion during storage and transportation. The composite material comprises a high strength, tear resistant, flexible scrim (2), a low density layer (4) impregnated with a solid form vapour phase corrosion inhibitor, and a barrier layer (3) to reduce the transmission of water, water vapour, oxygen and other environmental gases through the composite material. The barrier layer also reduces the atmospheric loss of gaseous vapour phase corrosion inhibitor from around the wrapped item. Each layer is formed from a polyolefin material to create a multi-layered polyolefin composite material that is easily recyclable.
Matériau composite (1) résistant à l'eau et inhibant la corrosion en phase vapeur, destiné à entourer des articles métalliques de façon à les protéger et à diminuer leur corrosion durant le stockage et le transport. Le matériau composite comprend un renfort (2) flexible, très résistant, notamment à la déchirure; une couche de faible densité (4) imprégnée d'un inhibiteur de corrosion en phase vapeur se présentant sous forme solide; et une couche imperméabilisante (3), qui diminue l'entrée d'eau, de vapeur d'eau, d'oxygène et d'autres gaz de l'environnement dans le matériau composite. La couche imperméabilisante diminue également la déperdition dans l'atmosphère de l'inhibiteur de corrosion contenu dans l'article emballé. Chaque couche est formée d'un matériau polyoléfine, ce qui permet de fabriquer un matériau composite polyoléfine multicouche facile à recycler.
