A curable thermoset resin composition useful for imparting water and/or solvent resistance to gel coated fiber-reinforced polymers comprising: (A) at least 5 wt.% of an at least partially end-capped unsaturated polyetherester resin; (B) an unsaturated polyester resin preferably modified with dicyclopentadiene having a ratio of the number average molecular weight to the average number of double bonds per polymer molecule in the range from about 200 to about 400, in an amount such that the weight ratio of polyester resin (B) to polyetherester resin (A) is in the range from about 10:90 to about 90:10; (C) about 10 to about 70 wt.% of at least one vinyl monomer; and (D) a curing agent. The composition is preferably used as a barrier layer between the fiber-reinforced polymer and the gel coat.
Cette composition de résine thermodurcissable utile destinée à conférer une imperméabilité à l'eau et/ou une résistance aux solvants à des polymères renforcés par des fibres à enrobage de gel comporte: (A) au moins 5 % en pourcentage pondéral d'une résine polyétherester insaturée à extrémité au moins partiellement protégée, (B), une résine polyester insaturée modifiée, de préférence, au moyen de dicyclopentadiène dont le rapport poids moléculaire moyen en nombre/nombre moyen de double liaisons par molécule polymère est compris entre environ 200 et environ 400 et ce, sous des quantités telles que le rapport pondéral résine polyester (B)/résine polyétherester (A) soit compris entre environ 10/90 et environ 90/10, (C), d'environ 10 à environ 70 % en pourcentage pondéral d'au moins un monomère vinylique et (D), un agent de durcissement. On utilise, de préférence, cette composition comme couche barrière entre le polymère renforcé par des fibres et l'enrobage de gel.
