ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Water soluble polyester-polyimide prepolymers are prepared (1) having 5 to 60%, preferably at least 35%, of polyimide, (2) an excess hydroxyl content in ex- cess of 60% and preferably more than 100%, and (3) a num- ber average molecular weight of 600-1300. To water solu- bilize the prepolymers formed, there are added amines, preferably tertiary amines. The products are useful as wire enamels. To enhance the thermoplastic flow of the enamel. there are added organic titanates.
