ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Water soluble polyesters are prepared by reacting an aromatic dicarboxylic acid, a diol and a triol (the molar ratio of diol to triol being 75:25 to 40:60) with or without a monohydric alcohol. The polyesters have a molecular weight of 800 to 1300, an OH/COOH ratio of 1.8:1 to 3:1. The polyesters are useful in making wire enamels.
