ABSTRACT Novel water soluble polymers of allyloxybenzenesulfonate monomers, a process for their preparation and their use in aqueous systems containing particulate matter. The polymers are useful in many applications where particulate material is required to remain in a suspended or dispersed state. The polymers are also useful as inhibitors of mineral scale formation and deposition in various water treatment applications.
